A tree is a woody plant.
It is interesting to examine the root ball of the office plant. Physical barriers for the plant such as the pot mirror challenges we see for trees in the urban environment where compacted soils and physical barriers limit root system development.
Tree roots frequently have a limited growing area and may become girdled and restricted. On this small scale plant we encourage the roots to grow out and away from the circular form, we amend the soil and place the plant in a larger pot.
In effect these are similar principals we apply to trees in the landscape, only on a larger scale.
